Trail Delight

Journaling by the fire. You might think that because we camp every night that we're having fires, but it's not so. This was only our 3rd fire so far. It's so delightful when we actually get to have one. Usually we are too tired, don't have enough time, or it's just not a good place to have fire.

When it's 7:00 at night and there is absolutly no where to camp, the delight of seeing this bridge was relieving. How many times do you get to sleep on a bridge in a lifetime and have it be the best option around?

Soaking in the Deep Creek hot springs!! These were so relaxing! Although I did get a hot spring hangover later and felt a bit dehydrated and tired, still worth it though.

Dagney fording a river. That bridge would have been delightful right here. But it was nice to get our feet wet.

After a 22 mile day with 5000 feet of elevation gain, it is soo delightful to get into camp. We basically set up shelters, cook dinner and go to bed. 8:00 bed time is standard out here, party animals.

Kara's last week

We walked through a big windmill farm. You can kind of see it in the background.

We came all the way from the snow covered mountain in the background, San Jacinto.

Lunch with a view!

She is dunski!!

10 days in @ 140 days to go

After hiking 12.5 hours up, up and up, with a little bit of down inbetween there was no camping in sight. So we slept in the trail, whatever works I guess.

Dagney negotiates a snow field. We hiked for about 2 miles in snow. Some of which was not on trail and we were just navigating our way around.

Kara and me. She was happy to be on the snow!

Love this little doggy sooo much, but I don't think she's going to make it much longer. She will be leaving us next week!

First 100 miles

Lunch time in the desert. After this picture we crossed the hot valley floor and traversed the San Felipe mountain range for about 25 miles. You can see them in the background.

-kara will find any bit of shade to hang out in

Daney enjoys some pita and cheese. The San Felipes in the distance.

Trail angels are life savers!! This water cache was waiting for us on the desert floor. Without it we would have ran out of water

Desert wildlife!

When we rolled into camp at mile 101 there was a cooler full of beer to congratulate us on our first 100. Again, trail angels are life savers!!!

Eagle Rock- how cool is this!
